Speaking another language means learning how to become somebody else, for example Pushkin’s outrageous character. It’s important to be able to decrypt the global meaning of the text first, then you can focus on its details. “My character is well known to you: I am accustomed to taking the lead. From my youth this has been my passion. In our time, dissoluteness was the fashion, and I was the most outrageous man in the army” – thus spoke Silvio.
This digital storytelling project brings together Pushkin’s text, audio narration, urban landscape, present moments’ perception turning into classical abstraction. Reading out loud the classical text is a great exercise to learn and be comfortable with your «new you». In the meantime digital storytelling functions as a symbolic tool, a way of understanding experience as unfolding in time and space and linking the attitude of the other toward oneself.
