It is not easy to talk of global warming to convey the risks of climate change simply. The presenter definitely has a way with words and made his presentation personal, descriptive and tangible to engage the audience. This presentation addresses the immediate motivating risks, the local ones by highlighting the risks happening now, to him and his peers, in his geographic location. At the same time, reviewing the figures from Russia’s climate change plan, he noted that the discussion should address not just sea-level rise, but how to build climate resilient power grids, water management systems and other infrastructure.
NOTE: Russia is the fourth largest greenhouse gas polluter, and a global survey of 40 countries released last summer found that Russians had the lowest level of concern about global warming out of every country but one – Ukraine.
