This is a charming and witty response to gender stereotyping in Russian commercials. Our class discussions are built upon and revolve around both students' understanding of gender roles in Russia and the society’s stereotypes.

The sticking images of "a women should stay at home" role and "a man to be a breadwinner of a household," paradoxically, are linked to the discussion of gender norms, human rights in Russia and the role of the state in shaping present gender inequities.

Yet, curiously, other paradoxes involve the statements that most women in Russia would make, “Why would I want to act like a man? I’m proud of being a woman.” While a discussion on gender roles should encourage disagreement and celebrate difference, one may be surprised that the most challenging aspects would be voiced by male students who generally speak more frequently and longer in class discussions.
