videopodcast for learning Russian
This is a final project for Advanced Russian course Russian Media and Popular Culture. A recorded and edited with Adobe Premiere video is a short "documentary" that collects all the points into one multimedia production. A half of the presentation is done in Russian, but the translation analysis is presented in English (see an episode 7:47 -- 20:47).
Case-based discussion explores the origin of comics in Russia, the reception of comics in Russia through the lens of state censorship and propaganda, Western and Japanese influence over the culture of Russian comics in the 90s, and a case of comparative translation analysis of popular Japanese comics into English and Russian.
